December Match Report

The Unofficial Swiss match officially ends our match calendar for 2019. It was a great day for shooting. We tweak this match every year to make it more to our liking. But, seeing 30 caliber holes at 300 yds. hasn't gotten any easier. You just have to trust to your zero and be consistent. Jim did that and posted the best score. Click here to see the results.

We are doing some thinking about our 2020 match schedule. If you have any suggestions, send them to me by email. Most of our matches are the result of suggestions by our shooters.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our matches this year. A special thanks to my fellow club members who I've had to lean on even more this past year. Jim, Jay, Tim, Dick, Tom you guys are the best. Whether keeping our gear organized, scoring, setting targets, or helping someone get a good zero, you guys always pitch in. Have a happy new year and we'll see you back in January.

November Match Report

We had a good turnout for our WWI match in spite of the poor weather report. There was a bit of drizzle as we got into the second match. But, we still had a good time and spirits weren't dampened even though the targets were. Congratulations to Jim who posted the high score in both matches today, including a nice 100-5X in the first match. Check out the picture. Not bad for a WWI era M1917 rifle. Click Here for all of the scores.

We had several shooters come from out of state today. Welcome guys, we hope it was worth the trip and you'll come back and shoot with us again.

We had a great day for our second CMP GSM (Garand-Springfield-Military) match of 2019. There was a good mix of rifles represented ranging from the 1920's to the recent past. Congratulations to Jay and Jim for posting the high scores. Click here for all of the scores and scroll down to the second page for the CMP awards.

Thanks to all who came out to shoot and help with the match chores.

Next month we'll be shooting our annual WWI match. If you have a rifle from "The Great War," bring it out. If not, come on out anyway. Click here for details.

September Match Report

We were back out on range #2 for the match after using the covered firing line of range #1 for the past two months. Well, we could have used it for one more month. The heat was definitely a factor and a couple of shooters needed to leave early. Congratulations to Ken and Jay who shot the best today. Click here for all the scores. Next month will be a CMP Games match. In these matches a lot more types of rifles are permitted. Click here for details. Welcome to Bob Who came out to shoot with us today.

Thanks everyone for helping with the match chores today.

Vintage 2-Gun

Shooting under the cover is usually a great idea in the August heat. But, today the temperature was great and the rain only misted us a couple of times. Only 5 shooters in the match today, I suppose the weather report kept some of you at home. That's your loss. We had a good time shooting the short range targets. Jim and I traded off the top scores. Click here for all of the scores. Welcome back to Joe, who has been away awhile. We hope you'll be back again. Thanks to everyone for helping out with the match today. Next month we'll be back to our regular vintage military double header. So pick out a rifle and get ready for another vintage rifle match.

July 3-Gun Match Report

Another great day to be out on the range. We shot under the range #1 cover expecting a July scorcher, but it felt more like May. We'll shoot under the range#1 cover again next month too, just in case August isn't so accommodating. For this year's vintage military 3-gun match, I regained the top spot from Jim. But only by x count in the first match. Click Here for all of the scores.

Thanks to everyone who came out to shoot and my fellow club members who helped run the stages. We hope to see everyone out next month for our annual vintage military 2-Gun match. Click here for details.

June Match Report

Although we started off with a little drizzling rain, it soon burned off and it was pretty warm. Everyone stayed hydrated though and it was a good day to shoot. We had a couple of new faces today. Justin shot this vintage match with a borrowed M1 and Sarah with a borrowed M1 carbine. They both had typical newcomer results, but hopefully will be back to sharpen their skills. Congratulations to Marsh and Jim who won today's matches. The scores were really tight in the first match. Click here for all the results. Thanks to everyone who came out to shoot and help with the match chores.

May Match Report

Well, it seems that spring is officially over. Temperatures climbed well into the 90's by the time we finished. The sky was clear and we had pretty consistent light all day. Some of us with older eyes appreciate that the most. We had a few rifles that weren't too cooperative today and some shooters traded off matches. Click here for all of the scores.

Welcome to Shane and Joshua who came out to shoot with us today. We hope you had some fun and will be back again.

Thanks to everyone for helping out with the match chores. We'll see you all next month for another vintage military double header.

April Match Report

This was an interesting day for a match. It was sunny, then it wasn't, then it was again... You get the idea. It was a challenge to keep up with that old saying "Lights Up - Sights Up." Nevertheless, our first CMP Match for 2019 was a lot of fun. There were a few mechanical issues, but these aren't shiny new rifles so it is to be expected. Click here for the scores and CMP awards.

Welcome to David and Chris who joined us for the matches today. We hope you'll come out again. Thanks to my fellow club members for helping run the match, you guys are the best!

Another great day for a match. A little chilly to start with but soon it was perfect shooting weather. A few good scores were posted, but it seems we all had a few struggles today. Click here to see the scores from the matches.

Welcome to Paul who shot with us today with his Mauser and recently acquired M1 Garand. Thanks to everyone for coming out to shoot and help with the match chores.

Reminder: Our April match will be one week earlier than usual to allow us to participate in the CMP Eastern games at Camp Butner.
